A Look at Kuwait

From a nation of pearl divers and traders which are among the first seafarers and maritime traders in the world; to one of the worlds' largest oil exporters. Kuwait maintains a society that is modern and cosmopolitan, nonetheless, a society that remains true to its heritage and traditions.


Language of Kuwait

Arabic is the official language of the State of Kuwait. Across Kuwait's history, Arabic language was influenced by other languages and societies in Kuwait. Kuwaitis speak a niche of Arabic dialect in their daily discourse. It is a soft dialect with its own characteristics and qualities within the Arabic language. It comes close to the Classical Arabic, which is distinguished by its flexibility and richness. Its forms contain precise expressions and an extraordinary capability for differentiating between tangible and the intangible.
The Arabic language certainly reflects the identity of the Kuwaiti society, as well as, Kuwait’s culture. However, English is widely spread and most of Kuwaitis speak English as a second language.


Climate

Located in the desert geographical region, Kuwait has a continental climate characterized by its dry hot long Summers and short warm Winters with occasional rainfalls. Dusty storms often occur during the Summer months. The relative humidity increases and temperature sometimes reaches 50 °C under the shade.

Autumn and Spring seasons, are short periods that may pass unnoticeable.

Despite its short period, Winter in Kuwait is warm. However, during the Winter the temperature may reach from 18 °C to 0°C. Winter rainfalls are irregular and vary in quantity from one year to another.
